Tales of Tricksters and Vagabonds — Live across Canada this fall

Six shows, four cities. Mike Herriott takes his acclaimed suite on tour — Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montréal — this September and October. A brass-and-rhythm ensemble, six unforgettable characters, and an album brought to life on stage.

Bio

Canadian trumpeter Mike Herriott — a respected multi-instrumentalist across the classical and jazz worlds — is in demand as a lead trumpeter, jazz improviser, orchestral soloist, bassist, arranger, and composer. Born in England and raised in Newfoundland, he has toured extensively through North America and Southeast Asia and shared the stage with a host of luminaries, including Maynard Ferguson, Rob McConnell, Doc Severinsen, Arturo Sandoval, Michael Bublé, Slide Hampton, Kenny Wheeler, Phil Nimmons, Maria Schneider, and Seth MacFarlane. He served as lead trumpet for the ceremonies of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, has earned Juno nominations (including with the Canadian Brass), and is a veteran lead-trumpet chair of Toronto’s musical theatre scene.

In 2018, Mike began a musical collaboration with his wife, celebrated cellist Ofra Harnoy, that has brought the duo international recognition through touring and recording. Together they have released Back to Bach (2019), On the Rock (2020, MusicNL Winner 2021), and Portrait (2023).

In 2023, Mike released Tales of Tricksters and Vagabonds, his first solo album project since 2016 — a narrative suite drawn from his master’s thesis, portraying six literary and folkloric archetypes. In fall 2026 he brings the suite to the stage on a six-show Canadian tour, spanning Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montréal.
